March 11.2014 Huge togs!

March 12.2014
Epic day-it defiantly was not a quantity tog trip but "quality" was definitely a huge factor in our trip. Jonathan, Jon, Brandon, Joe, and I got a early start. Conditions were perfect for tog fishing with warm temperatures and slick calm water. We got set up and there was a little waiting game but we finally broke the ice with and boated a solid 7 lber. It wasn't a fast pace bite but we began getting a few bites and landed one or two more fish, slightly smaller, so we made a little move. After the move about 10 minutes with no bites all hell finally broke loose and Jon bowed up instantly. We all knew it was a slob so I waited patiently with net while he fought the monster. After a good fight we boated the slob. The entire boat was excited and the fish taped out 28.5 inches on hard tape so we estimated him to be 16.5-17 lbs. which would qualify him for the new Junior World Record ! As we all stood at the back of the boat with cheers and took pictures "sneaky" Joe put on a fresh bait and slipped up to the bow. He hooked the fish of a life time after a serious fight and I waited again, patiently, with the net boating an absolute monster, 31.5 incher that weighed 22.5 lbs! In that 15 minutes of fishing two very fortunate and deserving people boated two fish of a lifetime. So the remainder of our day we caught a few more togs with another being around 6 lbs. The group also caught a handful seabass through out the day and I caught a solid one being 5.5-6 lb.s too bad they where out of season. However, the day was absolutely unforgettable! So glad to spend the day with some of my best friends and share this experience together.
