Today was on the top for one of the best fishing day's I've had this year. Not because how many or how big the fish we caught but the fun and smiles and the experience everyone had. We had Jamie,Morgan and there two kids with ...us today for a half day trip and they were nothing but energetic and eager to learn. We started off Spadefishing the conditions were not perfect but we managed catch a nice mixed bag from Seabass, Spadefish, Bluefish, Spot and a Triggerfish to top it off. So once we got a little break with some sun we decided to go look for a Cobia the conditions were not good at all but we stuck it out and hooked a nice pair we had everyone on the boat in the action. One of the two fish did get off at the boat but we got the nicest one a nice 25lber after smiles and celebration we headed in. It was a great day on the water I think we got two young ones hooked on Cobia fishing forever!

Bernie Caplan and his crew were back out with us today. We had almost perfect conditions for the first part of the day and the fishing was great. We fished around and got on really good bite and we kept our seeing to hookup ra...tio right and kept the fish coming in the boat. Throughout the day we managed solid limit and releasing more. Our two biggest fish being 45lbs & 55lbs! It was awesome having them with us cant wait until next time.

July 29.2013 Weather man was wrong!!

The weather man guessed wrong on the forecast today. We had Greg and his crew aboard today for a full day trip we headed out and faced terrible sight fishing conditions. The clouds had the worst glare on the water you couldn't ...see 10 foot and on top of that it was blowing NE 10-20 not the expected "NE 5-10".We did get a shot at a cobia and got Greg's youngest son on his first cobia it wasn't a keeper but put smiles in the boat. The weather continued to get worse to the point where it was un-fishable so we decided to call it a day early and headed in before lunch time.
So after being in for a few hours the weather shaped up beautiful, of course now that we came in early. So Brandon, Jon and I decided to go out in the Skiff for a little action. We got on a great bite and caught 20-25 Flounders kept limit biggest was 24" 5.5 lbs and couple puppy drum in the mix.
I hope the weather man gets his act together in the future!

July 28.2013 Quick Trip!

Went out for a quick fishing trip in the skiff. We had a heavy hitter on the boat Hayden Head he was also entered in the youth Peninsula Fishing Club Tournament. It was a real productive couple hours we caught 12-14 Flounders ...with 8 keepers with Hayden catching the biggest 21.5" And caught 12 Puppy drum biggest 23" and a few others hungry critters. Hayden did great in the tournament he finished in 2nd for the flounder category and 3rd for the Croaker category.

July 27.2013 1st place Flounder Tournament

I had a charter fall out for today and Sunday so Derick gave me a call and offered me to join them in the Wallace's Flounder Tournament. We left out Messick first thing and headed out once we arrived the current was still scre...aming so we knew it was going to be a little waiting game. After making a few moves we picked away at a few fish. We grinded it out all day and caught fish pretty steady. We scratched out a fat limit and caught many more. At the scales our 3 fish stringer weighed 16.9lbs and biggest was 6.4lbs. And we topped our awesome day off with 1st place in the tournament!

July 26.2013 Birthday Fishing

Today was a big day it was Willie's birthday. Brandon and I got the opportunity to go out with him for a quick trip. We headed out a little after lunch time and it was pretty good fishing. The first fish up was all Willies afte...r he battled it out he landed the solid fish 53lbs great way to start the day out. Through out the rest of the day we managed to catch 7 Cobia. We did have a tragedy happen toward the end of the day we broke a 55-60 lber off right at the gaff but other than that it was great day!

July 24.2013 Great Catch 3 over 50lbs!!

World class to say the least. We had Brian and his crew aboard with us today it started off with a bang! Left with a plan to go straight to Flounder fishing when it was interrupted with Brian's first Cobia. We saw it while we ...were running and got a eel on it. Successful boated his solid Cobia. The excitement didn't stop there. It wasn't ten minutes later we smoked a nice pair! Then something crazy happened.. we hooked this really nice fish and few minutes in the fight the hook pulled the boat filled with silence and disappointment... I kept the boat in neutral for about ten minutes and looked up there she was. I yelled "get another eel on!" and luckily she ate again! Patrick battled this fish out and we got it in the boat. We also got or previous eel back. After we caught couple more Cobias we decided to go fish for some Flounders for the tide change it wasn't red hot but we manage some nice fish! So the tally of the day: we caught 6 cobia, kept 3 fish weighing 50Lbs., 52.5 lbs., and 54.5 lbs. ...Just shy of paperwork. And For Flounders we Caught 8-10 kept 5. Biggest was 24" 4.5lbs! It was awesome day fishing with good people.

July 23 2013 Quick Flounder trip!

Last minute trip Jonathan,Jon and I decided to run out and soak some live baits for the tide change. We got out and timed the tide perfect and it was game on! We caught 8 kept 5 and headed in we had two solid fish also 23"&24" it was a productive hour of fishing!

July 22..2013 Nice fish 80lbs!

I woke up this morning cracked out all I could think about that big one Ken and I pulled off yesterday. So I called Ken I said "lets go get em". We headed out and it was pretty bad conditions to sight fish so we looked around... nothing so we decided to go try for some flounder. We got set up and it was really slow we pulled off one little fish so after having enough of that we started heading in. We didn't get anywhere Ken yelled out "there's a pair" Pulled up and got them just shy of keeper so sent them back. Wasn't 20 mins later we smoked solid 30 lber and boxed it. On the way home we released a couple more barley legal fish. Then out of nowhere I yelled "there they are......slobs!!!!" we pulled up Ken hooked the smaller fish still a solid 45lber and the eel slipped up the line on the fish that was already hooked and in the process the bigger fish kept trying to eat the eel up the line, So I scrambled and got my eel in her face she sucked it up and it was game on, after that fish whipping my butt we got in the boat a Slob 64" 80lbs!! it was a great day with a good friend and we headed in grinning ear to ear!

July 21.2013 Cobia/Flounder

We had Pat and the crew aboard. After yesterdays rough seas I was a little more cautious this morning. So I got up looked at buoy weather seen the winds where still high so decided to leave a couple hours later. Finally the wi...nd calmed down so we went out with a late start. And it wasn't long we seen our first Cobia that fish didn't want to work with us. So came up on the next one... it was a SLOB we casted out rod doubled over screaming out then the heartbreaker happens hook pulled. So after regrouping on that we seen another one smoked it a solid 40lber. We seen a couple more that wouldn't eat. We Finally got another shot at a fish that would eat we boxed that one 25lber. After cleaning up we decided to go try for a couple flounder we made the run got set up and it perfect current conditions we dropped our live baits down and fished for 15-20minutes we caught 4 really quick with two keepers and two just shy but then the storm started pounding us with lightning all around we had to call the trip. I really wish we could have stayed I think we could have scratched some Flounder out.

July 20.2013 Bachelor Fishing Trip Smoked em!!

This was a special day; We had Brandon and his buddies aboard for a bachelors fishing trip. We made our way out and it was by fare the roughest day I've fished yet this year with solid 4ft chop. It made it a little difficult to... fish. So first up came the Bachelor man he landed our first keeper of the day. And the day continued out we had a little trouble getting right on the next few fish. Our lucked turned around and we started getting them good. Smoked a nice pair and it was all up hill from there. We managed a solid limit and everyone catching there first cobias!

July 19.2013 Great family trip!

We had the big Texas crew today; It was three young bucks on the boat so the goal right off the bat was to get them all their first "ling". It was a little on the rough side today and that made things a little difficult but we made it happen, the youngest boy ended up catching the biggest fish with a little help from grandpa. He landed a nice fish just shy of a citation, we finished the day bringing each of the boys a fish home and releasing the rest!

July18.2013 Another epic film day!

July 18, 2013
Day 2 of filming with Harry Hindmarsh. Left the dock with perfect condition. Once we got out there, we saw some fish, but were having trouble keeping them hooked. We finally broke that spell with a nice fish and got some great... camera action in the process. Ended up with another banner day and kept our solid limit and released more. Cannot wait to see what Harry has in store! Keep posted for the finished product its going to be sick!

Today we had Harry Hindmarsh aboard to take video and pictures for some upcoming magazine and video events. Harry couldn't leave until lunch time so after he arrived at my house we started fishing around 1:30 And the day was ab...solutely perfect from great sight conditions, to a lot of shots at fish. We didn't see any monsters but we did pull off 45-50ber. You couldn't ask for a better day with better people. Can't wait to see his finished work!

Made a bad call and didn't head out early, But around lunch time we decided to head out for a couple hours with Chris. We headed out and it was perfect flat calm and sunny. It wasn't long we saw a nice pair and smoked a keeper.... It was game on after that. For the 2.5 hours we fished we caught 10 and kept 3 biggest was around 35lbs. We also pulled off a fish over 50lbs but it was a great day I didn't want to come in!

Today we had Lance and his family with us from Tennessee. The plain was to enter the Little Creek Cobia Tournament but with the weather forecast I didn't think it would be good sight fishing conditions. So instead we decided to... enter the Boys & Girls Flounder Tournament. This was all there first time Flounder fishing and it was pretty good bite with everyone catching there first Flounders. Throughout the day we had a great catch we caught 15-18 Flounders kept 12 biggest 23" we had a limit of Grey Trout biggest 17". We didn't have the "whopper" stringer but we did top the great day off with 10 place winning $300

Today we had Craig and his crew aboard. Unfortunately we decided to turned into half day due to the weather forecast. We headed out to do some Spadefishing because sight fishing Cobia in these conditions was out the question. We got set up and got on a good bite, we boated over 25 Spades and also broke a few off. We kept a limit a headed in early to out run the rain.

Today we had Joe and his group aboard for a half day trip. We headed out and again faced difficult sight fishing conditions. While running out we got a shot, saw a nice pair and hooked and caught one nice keeper. After getting... cleaned up we saw a few more fish but had a hard time getting them to eat. We did hook a couple more that later pulled off. So after messing with cobia we decided to go anchor up for some spadefish and managed to catch a few so after that we went looking again, after looking for less than 5 minutes we stumbled upon a nice school of red drum hooked two caught 1 a nice 52 inch" Virginia citation but the school later got run down by other boats. It was a great day with good people.

Today we had Jim and his three son's aboard for a half day. We headed out and it wasn't good sight fishing conditions so we decided to go try for some Spadefish. We got set up and the fishing was good. Throughout catching Spade ...we lucked up and caught a really solid Triggerfish. So with a little time left in our great day we went looking for a Cobia. Despite the clouds we did see a nice fish hooked up but unfortunately later pulled the hook. But we did get anther shot and we made it count with the birthday kid catching a nice keeper Cobia! It was a great day with good people

July 7.2013. 55 lb Cobia!

Today we had Sammy and some of his family with us. We met up at the boat late morning and headed out with clear skies but rough seas. It wasn't ten minutes after being in the tower we smoked Sammys first cobia and a... nice keeper at that. Unfortunately after that quick action we went through a pretty long dry spell where we seen a couple fish but they wouldn't eat. But that came quickly to end when we seen a nice pair soaking pulled up I casted... "he is eating" set the hook and Pete started winching on his first Cobia and got him in the boat a Whopper! It weighed out later at Bishops Outpost at 55lb! So Pete got his first Virginia Citation. But that wasn't the last of the action we started getting on a good bite with everyone on the boat catching there first Cobias. It was a great day on the water with smiles all around. We kept 4 for the table and released the rest!

July .2013 Flounder Bowl !

July 6th 2013
Unfortunately, the charter I had booked for the Flounder Bowl Tournament wasn't able to fish today because of the rescheduling. So my best friend Brandon Bartlett B, his girlfriend Amanda Greene and my girlfriend Jj Hensel we...nt out today to give it a try. We went out relatively late and it was a little choppy on the way out. Once we got out there we started live baiting. We got started and the water really calmed down. Brandon and I started live baiting and not long after the girls wanted to join in. We set them up and not long after that Amanda hooked and boated her first flounder; solid 4 pounder. JJ and her took turns with the rod. JJ then caught her largest flounder right under 5 lbs. The girls had a blast between the blow fish, rays, and flounder. We didn't think much of what we had as fare as weight for the tournament so went to put Amanda on her first cobia. Started looking and not fifteen minutes of looking we saw the first cobia. Amanda did a great job reeling in her first (nice size) cobia. Her and JJ traded off the fish. We were almost ready to come in and hooked up another cobia. We elected JJ next on the gaff. She gaffing it and brought it right in the boat. It was time to head in to the weigh in at Dare Marina. Weighed the fish and ended up winning 4th Place with 12.5 lbs for our three largest. JJ won the lady anglers with her fish right under 5 lbs. We caught our limit of flounder and cobia. It was an amazing day on the water!!

July 5.2013 Cobia on fire!

Today I had Julie Ball on the boat. We went out and the fishing was red hot and the weather was great too. We had some great Fishing. We caught 12 Cobia total and released 10 from 37"-51.5 inches . Julie got two citations one 50 & 1/2 inches and 51 & 1/2 inches. We had an awesome day!
