Today will be unforgettable. Jon,Willie and I headed out
about 10:00 and it toke sometime to get on a fish but we started the day off
with Jon catching a really solid fish about 65-70lbs. So after getting cleaned
up it was another waiting game until the next fish we caught a 45lber. Then
another hour passes and still not seeing any fish Willie finally got a shot a
big one he lands another solid fish for the day 75-80lbs. Then the familiar
pattern continues we kept looking with not seeing much then we stumbled across a
nice school of red drum and I landed a 51" incher then school spooked. We
continued to look around for about a hour without seeing anything we where about to
call it a day then all hell broke loose. We spot a nice triple and Willie cast first, hooks up instantly Jon followed right up hooking the second fish and Im in
panic mode trying to get my eel untangled, so I cut the line and grab Willies
back bucktail rod and hook the third fish so at this point the Chinese fire
drill is in full force! We are all going up and over each other, sticking rods
in rod holders to gaff each others fish
and somehow we landed all three absolute monster fish Willies was 68lbs Jons
was 76lbs and I had the privilege to catch my biggest Cobia to date a Whooper
65" weighing 95.8 lbs! Im so glad I
had the opportunity to have this epic day with two very good friends.
